Bar-David Museum of Art and Judaica, Kibbutz Bar’am
Art and Fun at the Bar-David Museum, Kibbutz Bar’am
The Bar-David Museum, named after its donors, Moshe and Tova Bar-David from Haifa, is dedicated to art and Judaica. The museum is located in the northern Kibbutz Bar’am, against the magical backdrop of the landscapes of northern Israel, about two kilometers north of Bar’am National Park, home to the ancient synagogue. The museum combines old and new, tradition and contemporary art, and the spectacular northern views alongside it make a visit an extraordinary experience.
The museum spans three floors:
On the entrance floor:
1. A hall displaying rotating art exhibitions from the museum’s collection combined with contemporary art. Starting in February, a solo exhibition by Shmuel Tepler – “The Song of Colors” – will be on display for about six months.
2. Two additional halls with a renewed permanent display of Judaica: ritual objects from all Jewish communities, Hanukkah menorahs, Torah scroll cases, Passover Haggadahs, myrtles, candlesticks, and more. Among them is also an exact replica of the lintel from the Bar’am synagogue, with an ancient Hebrew inscription from the Mishnaic period.
On the upper floor:
A spacious hall serving as a gallery for rotating exhibitions of contemporary art by leading Israeli artists active in the contemporary art scene, across various mediums. A new exhibition will open there on 12.19.14. The exhibition “Anti-Abundance” is a group exhibition, bringing together 10 young artists who push the boundaries of material, using simple everyday materials in an artistic and unconventional way.
Nearby, an archaeology room with items from the region, pottery and glass vessels, jewelry and figurines, and the most complete collection of oil lamps in Israel.

The Youth and Workshops Wing: During the year 5775 (2014-2015), a new interactive exhibition for the whole family will open, titled: “Wonderful Worlds.” The exhibition was brought to the Youth Wing as a result of a collaboration between the museum and the Art Institute at Oranim College. The exhibition offers activities in experiential corners, encouraging imagination and magic through displayed artworks and illustrations related to the theme (Alice in Wonderland and more).
The museum offers guided tours and activities for schools, kindergartens, adults, and families. Special activities are held during holidays and vacations, as well as study days, cultural evenings, clubs for adults and children, and artist workshops.
